Ukhimath, Rudraprayag – The whole town was shouting, “Jai Baba Kedar!” as the holy Panchmukhi Doli of Lord Kedarnath came to the Omkareshwar Temple for the winter stay. Everywhere there were lights, bells, flowers, and smiling faces. People said it felt like Baba himself had come home.
After the doors of Kedarnath temple closed for the cold months, the Baba Kedarnath Doli began its long journey. It passed through many villages. People came out from their homes just to see Baba once. Some folded their hands, some cried, and many offered flowers. The sound of drums and conch shells followed the Doli wherever it went. Every step of the journey was filled with love and faith.
On Saturday morning, priests do a special puja at the Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi and After that, the Doli moved again toward Ukhimath. The army band played music in Baba’s honor. Behind the Doli, thousands of people walked together. They chant bhajans, danced, and kept shouting “Har Har Mahadev!” with big smiles. Old people, children, and families—all joined the yatra.
When the Doli reached Omkareshwar Temple, people welcomed it with loud cheers. Devotees showered flowers from the rooftops. Many devotees cried with happiness. The temple looked like heaven—covered with bright flowers and glowing lamps. The priests placed the Doli at its winter seat after it went around the temple. The whole place felt calm, blessed, and full of divine energy.
Now, for six months, Baba Kedarnath will stay here at Omkareshwar Temple. All pujas and prayers will happen in Ukhimath during this time.The temple committee ensured that everything followed full faith and Vedic rules. Committee head Hemant Dwivedi said the government is promoting winter yatra so more people can visit Baba even when Kedarnath remains closed.
The people of Ukhimath are very happy. Every house has lamps and flowers. The sound of bells never stops and Even though the main Kedarnath temple is closed, everyone believes that Baba Kedar never leaves his devotees. His blessings and love stay with them all year long.
