Operating Season

The Chardham Helicopter Operations run in two different windows every year, They run according to the Opening & Closing of the gates(Kapat) of chardham temples. The temple closes during harsh winters and heavy Monsoon seasons because these are located around 10,000 - 11,800 feets. You can experience heavy snowfall & heavy rainfall this time.

Phase 1. The Summer peak season (May to June)

This is the time when Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yumnotri & Gangotri Temples open and Chardham yatra begins with full excitement. This is when Highest Chardham Heli Flights take place, Highest pilgrims reach there.

• Weather Conditions: Honestly this the best time of chardham yatra because Weather is in Favorable & you will not face any extreme snowfall and rainfall during this. According to the weather reports the Daytime Temperature at shrines is between 15°C to 20°C & Night temperature remains cold around 5°C.
• Heli Operations: This is the most suitable time for Heli Flights specially early morning flights are highly recommended because in afternoon the flights can be delayed Clouds formations/ lack of visibility.
• Reality & Strategy: This is the most demanding season for the chardham heli yatra that's why the prices are higher during this season. We highly recommend you to book at least 3 to 4 months in advance to secure the seats.

Phase 2. The Monsoon Season (July to August).

• Weather Conditions: This is the worst time for chardham helicopter yatra because of the heavy rainfall, downpours, the risk of landslides are high and also dense and low-altitude clouds block the visibility.
• Heli Operations: Government shutdown the heli operation during this time Because heli face frequent crashing and delays. Less visibility is also the main reason pilots don't operate helicopter.
• Reality: We don't operate during this season because .
• It's the most risky season of chardham yatra and we don't wanna take any type of risk for our passengers.

Phase 3: The Autumn Season ( September to November)

• Weather Conditions: This is also the best time for Chardham helicopter yatra because all the dust washed away in the monsoon season and the Himalayan mountains look capped with snow. Also there is less crowd and you can enjoy the best experience during this season.
• Heli Operations: It's the most suitable time for the helicopter flying and according to the reports almost zero weather related cancellation. We also operate in this season. Our current departure for Chardham helicopter yatra 2026 is from 15 September to 3 November 2026.
• Reality & Strategy: Temperature during this season is cold. October daytime temperature is 10°c around and Late October & November temperature can go around (-5°c). According to the previous seasons reports, you should wear heavy winter clothes.

Opening & Closing Dates Of Chardham Temples in 2026

The Opening and Closing dates of the Chardham temples are decided/declared by the Uttarakhand tourism board & the temple committee. Always make sure to visit the official channels before booking your yatra.

The 2026 chardham yatra officially commenced on 19 April 2026 and the Closing of this is expected between 10 November to 13 November in 2026.

Reporting & Departures rules

• Strict Flight Timings : Helicopters fly only during high visibility hours of the day daily. The first take off is at 6:00 am and completely shut down at 4:00 pm (IST).
• Reporting time : You should report at every helipad throughout the Chardham yatra at the time given by our team.
• Arrival in Dehradun: Our passengers should arrive at dehradun at least one day before the scheduled departure our team has decided. Also provide your accurate day and time to our team so any type of misunderstanding doesn't happen.
• Briefing of yatra : Our Team will conduct a briefing session on the one night before your yatra. They explain each and every single detail from starting to end. Also clear all your doubts about the chardham yatra. It's mandatory to attend this briefing. Things like passenger documents, baggage and weight will be verified by our team.
• Boarding: According to our weight carrying capacity if your weight exceeds helicopter weight policy we will shuffle the passengers between helicopters to manage the weight because we don't wanna take any risk. Also make sure you don't come late, take care of your own things especially documents and should attend the briefing session.
• Schedule: Departure times are always planned by our professional team but it may be changed due to bad weather, visibility in air , air traffic restrictions, technical conditions, passengers ,baggage load, vvip moments , government institutions , temporary helipad closure or any type of circumstances. The final call is of the pilot and our team regarding your safe departure, routing , boarding and landing. Passengers should follow the latest instructions from our chardham yatra experts.
• Temple entry, darshan timings, puja arrangements (mahabhishek) and sightseeing are subject to the rules, availability & directions of the chardham temples authorities. A specific darshan time cannot be guaranteed by our team.
• Passengers are advised to keep a buffer day after the scheduled return to our base camp dehradun so you will not face any type of inconvenience.

Helicopter and capacity

• Chardham yatra is a sacred experience that we wish to do at least in our lifetime but the difficult mountain routes, long travel routes and frequently changing weather can make our chardham yatra difficult especially for the elders. Chardham yatra by helicopter solves these problems and combines spiritual devotion with comfort and convenience. Our main priority is passenger safety.
• Our pilots are experienced & Certified aviation professionals by Uttarakhand civil aviation development authority (UCADA) with more than 500 hours of helicopter operating experience in the mountains of Chardham. Before every flight they check everything like the engine, rotor, navigation systems and emergency equipment. These checks are conducted in accordance with applicable aviation procedures and safety requirements. We are operating kedarnath yatra from Guptkashi so according to the irctc website our Guptkashi aviations are Trans Bharat Aviation and Chipsan Aviation.
• For chardham Helicopter yatra, we use modern helicopters such as the Bell 407 and Airbus H125/B3. These helicopters have the capacity of 6 passengers + 1 pilot, according to the passenger-weight, baggage and aircraft-load limits. These performance & ride quality are suitable for specially himalayan mountains and always check the weather, visibility, helipad conditions and regulatory approvals before take-off.
• These helicopters are equipped with GPS navigation, weather-monitoring systems & emergency equipment. Our team constantly observes the conditions along the route. If any type of unsuitable condition happens we may be delayed, rescheduled or rearranged the flights but don't take the risk.
• Before boarding our Chardham ground-handling team provides you a safety briefing like seat-belt use, emergency exits, boarding procedures and important precautions during the flight. Passengers should follow the instructions given by our crew, pilot & ground staff.

Health advisory

The chardham temple is situated at a high altitude around 10,000 ft to 11755ft. The kedarnath is situated at roughly 11755ft. The highest in the whole chardham temples. High - Altitude symptoms:

• Mild Symptoms like headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, low appetite, poor sleep, mild breathlessness are common problems at high altitude but don't ignore them, take rest, monitor and immediately tell our team about this.
• Critical symptoms: worsening headache, repeated vomiting ,loss of coordination, breathlessness, chest discomfort, persistent or blood-tinged cough, blue/green lips or skin. This can signal acute mountain sickness (AMS) , High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) , or High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE). These are rare but serious. If you face any of these immediately coordinate with our ground team we will do whatever best possible at that time. Don't hide anything from our crew.

Medical Preparation:

• Cardio: Walk for 3 to 4 km daily at a fast pace or use a bicycle for 30 minutes.
• Lung exercise: Practice pranayama (Specifically Anulom vilom and Kapalbhati deep breathing exercises) for 15-20 mins every morning to maximize the lung capacity
• Stair Climbing: climb 2 to 3 floors of stairs daily strengthen your calves & quadriceps for the short walks around the chardham temples.
• During the yatra: walk slowly, take sufficient rest, stay hydrated, eat light meals and listen to your body don't exceed anything.

What to wear:

• Thermal innerwear, woollen sweater, windproof/ padded jackets, rain coats, warm trousers (not jeans) , woolen cap, gloves , warm socks, trekking shoes.
• It is advised for men to wear comfortable track suits during the yatra & for women salwar kameez will be better . Saree is not a suitable option.
  • Also carry : sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, scarf , reusable water bottle.
  • Avoid: new fancy shoes, slippers, heels, smooth soles and bulky heavy footwear. Trekking shoes is highly recommended.

Passenger Weight Limits 

• Minimum individual limit per passenger is 80kg.
• If a passenger exceeds the weight limit charges would be applied.
• Charges are approximately Rs.2000 per extra kg over the limit.
• Passengers weighing over 100 kg must pay for two separate seats.
• The weight of the infant will be added to the accompanied passengers. The passenger along with an infant weighing more than 80kg will have to pay an additional amount for extra weight. 
• Maximum 2 child passengers & 2 infants only are allowed per sortie. For e.g. one sortie can accommodate maximum 2 children + 2 infants + 4 adults subject to weight permissibility according to the government guidelines (irctc).
• Age of child equal to 2 years & above will be provided with a seat and will be charged full fare which is equal to adult fare. For infants less than 2 years , no fare will be charged and no seat will be provided to the infant. Infant weight and passenger weight combined should not exceed the 80kg (infant + accompanied passenger).

Baggage Allowance 

• Maximum Bag weight per passenger is 5 kg.
• Only soft duffel bags are allowed onboard.
• Big luggage & trolley bags are strictly banned.
• Group baggage is often weighed & packed together.

Excess Baggage:

• Your extra bags must be left at the dehradun hotel.
• Heavy bags are not allowed in flights even with the extra fees. 
• Our staff will remove non-essential items if the chopper is heavy.
• Excess gear can be sent by road at your own cost.

Weight Verification:

• Every passenger is weighed before every single take-off.
• The pilot will calculate the combined weight of people, bags & fuel.
• Giving wrong weights during booking leads to flight cancellations.
• Random checkings happen at kharsali, Guptkashi & badrinath pads. 

Helicopter Packing checklist

Health & Altitude Preparation:

Kedarnath, Badrinath and other destinations are located at high altitude. Senior citizens and passengers with heart, lung, blood-pressure, mobility or other significant medical conditions should consult their doctor before booking our chardham heli package.

Passengers should:

• Carry prescribed medicines by doctor.
• Inform our team about mobility or medical requirements before travel.
• Walk slowly and rest when required.
• Report headache, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness or unusual weakness immediately to our team.

Darshan Assistance:

Our Ground staff will assist passengers with local coordination and available priority-darshan arrangements were included in the our package.

Darshan timing, temple entry, waiting time and special access are subject to temple authorities, government rules, crowd conditions and operational schedules. No fixed darshan time or queue-free entry is guaranteed. We will try our best to provide the best possible darshan.

Accommodation:

Accommodation is arranged according to the selected package (luxury or premium) and availability. Passengers should review the proposed hotels and inform our booking team in advance about:

• Mobility limitations.
• Ground-floor room requirements.
• Need for assistance with stairs.
• Medical or dietary requirements.
• Single-room requirements.
  Hotel facilities, walking distance, hot-water availability and room allocation may vary at remote Himalayan destinations.

Palki & Wheelchair Assistance:

We will provide the Palki, pony or wheelchair assistance at locations such as Yamunotri and Kedarnath, it is included in your package but subject to local availability, route conditions, temple rules and advance request.

Wheelchair access may not be available on every trail, helipad or temple approach. Please inform us before booking so that suitable arrangements can be checked. We will try our best to provide you.

How to Book

2. Share all the passengers name, ages, contact details and accurate body weights.
3. Submit the required identity documents asked the our team.
4. Provide arrival and departure details to our team for Dehradun.
5. Receive availability confirmation and the final package proposal. 
6. Pay the applicable advance through an approved payment channel when asked by our team.
7. Receive written booking confirmation and reporting instructions.
8. Pay the balance by the deadline stated in the booking confirmation given by the team.
9. Attend the mandatory briefing session in Dehradun and enjoy your well planned and stress free Chardham yatra by helicopter.

Note: A booking is confirmed only after the applicable payment has been received and written confirmation has been given to you by our booking team.

Payment Terms 

• Individual travellers 

• 30% of the total package is payable at booking confirmation.
• The remaining 70% is payable on Day 1 of the yatra, unless another date is specified in the written package proposal.

• Group bookings 
• 50% of the total package cost is payable at Booking confirmation.

• The remaining 50% is payable at least one month before the scheduled departure date. 

The advance amount may vary according to the service type, travel date, accomodation category, availability and time remaining before departure. Peak- season bookings, luxury accommodation and customised arrangements may require full advance payment.

Overseas passengers may pay through an approved channel's like Visa, Master card, Amrican express, union pay international or bank wire transfer. Subject to applicable banking, payment gateway and foreign exchange charges .

Rescheduling Policy 

This is subject to availability & written approval. Requests must be submitted before the applicable cancellation deadline.

The following may apply in this condition: 

• Rescheduling fee
• Diffrence in our package price
• Diffrence in our luxury & premium hotel or room category.
• Seasonal price difference 
• Third-party supplier charges 
• Goverment or payment chages 

Rescheduling is not guaranteed and may not be available after the yatra has commenced during peak dates. If the requested alternative date is unavailable, the applicable cancellation policy will apply.

Passenger Cancellation 

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by the person named on the booking to our booking team. The cancellation date will be the date on which our booking team receives and acknowledges the request.

Refunds may be subject to deduction of:

• Management charges.
• Bank or payment-gateway charges.
• Non-refundable hotel charges (Luxury & premium both).
• Flight, train or transport charges.
• Special puja or third-party service charges.
• Services already used.
• Applicable taxes or government charges.

Weather and Force Majeure Refunds 

Helicopter operations may be delayed, rearranged, suspended or cancelled because of weather, visibility, wind, air-traffic restrictions, government instructions, technical conditions, helipad restrictions or other force-majeure circumstances.

If flying cannot begin from dehradun:

If helicopter operations cannot commence from Dehradun because of bad weather or another force-majeure circumstance, the eligible refund will be processed after deduction of the applicable management, preparation, ground-handling, accommodation and non-refundable service charges. Confirm all the charges with our team at the time of booking.

If flying is impossible for two continuous days:

If flying remains impossible for two continuous days and the yatra cannot be completed within the available operating period, the tour may be called off. In this situation, 25% of the total package cost will be retained as a management and operational charge, and the eligible balance will be refunded. Confirm all the charges with our team at the time of booking.

If One or more Dhams remain unvisited:

If one or more Dham sectors cannot be operated, we will first try to rearrange the itinerary within the available operating period. If a sector remains unutilised, the refund will be calculated according to the applicable unused-sector policy. Confirm all the charges with our team at the time of booking..

Additional expenses: 

Additional hotel nights, meals, transport, transfers or personal expenses caused by weather or operational disruption will be payable by passengers unless specifically included in our written package proposal.
