Dehradun, Uttarakhand – Heavy rains crash in Dehradun late Monday night, flooding the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple as the Tamsa river overflowed and Cloudburst in Uttarakhand. Water entered the cave temple, rising above the Shivling and leaving devotees shocked.
The cloudburst in Uttarakhand triggered sudden flooding in the region, worsening the impact on religious sites and local communities.
Temple priest Acharya Bipin Joshi said, “By morning the temple was fully submerged. Such floods haven’t happened in years. The sanctum is safe but damage is everywhere.”
The SDRF rescued three people trapped in the river, while many vehicles remain stranded. Locals warned of floating logs crashing into the temple, causing heavy damage.
In Rishikesh, the Chandrabhaga river also crossed danger levels, with water reaching the highway as Officials have urged people to stay away from rivers and remain alert.
