Puri Jagannath Temple Now No-Drone Zone – Know Rules!

BHUBANESWAR – The DGCA has declared the area around Puri’s Shree Jagannath Temple as a Red Zone. Drones and other flying devices are now banned here unless you get special permission from the Central government.

The new rule was added to the DigitalSky airspace map on September 26 and will stay for three years, till September 25, 2028. It applies to all drones, remote-controlled devices, and manned aircraft.

This comes after several drones were spotted flying over the temple. Recently, police caught a drone near the shrine and registered a case under the Aircraft Act. Earlier, the temple administration had suggested adding a rule to stop drone flights for safety.

A Red Zone means drone flights are only allowed in special cases with central approval. Devotees and temple staff have welcomed this decision, saying it will help protect the holy shrine.

Now, anyone thinking of flying a drone near Puri Jagannath Temple must follow the rules or face penalties.
