Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan – On Karwa Chauth 2025, the Chauth Mata Temple in Sawai Madhopur became a hub of devotion. The temple sits 1100 feet above the city on Shaktigiri hill. Women climb 700 steps to reach it and pray for their husband’s long life and happiness.
Chauth Mata is considered a form of Goddess Parvati. The temple was built in 1451 by King Bhim Singh. It is made of white marble and shows traditional Rajput style. There are also idols of Lord Ganesha and Bhairav. A small pond and decorative umbrella were added in 1463 along the temple path. People believe that visiting the temple can remove troubles and fulfill wishes.
Legends make the temple even more special. One says that Chauth Mata appeared in King Bhim Singh’s dream and asked him to build the temple on the hill. Another story says the sacred idol came from Panchal region (today’s Uttar Pradesh). When it was placed, the hill lit up with divine light and became a holy site.
This Karwa Chauth, women from nearby towns and far away are visiting the temple. The climb is tough, but devotion and faith make the journey meaningful.
