Ujjain – Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain has replaced its old token process for protocol Mahakal darshan with a mobile link system. Devotees will no longer collect token numbers. Instead, the temple committee will send a link directly to the registered mobile number of the visitor.
Through this link, they can fill in details, pay the ₹250 fee online, and get an allotted date and time for Mahakal darshan. A confirmation message will arrive on their phone.
The temple committee introduced this new setup to stop irregularities in the previous token system and make the process smoother, similar to the Bhasma Aarti booking model already in use.
Earlier, names and numbers were given to the protocol officer, and tokens were sent manually. Visitors then had to visit the office again to pay before entry. Complaints were rising over delays and misuse.
The temple will record every slot digitally through the link-based booking, making it easier to manage crowds and avoid confusion.
The Mahakal temple committee says this move will save time and bring more transparency. Devotees visiting through protocol now need only their phone — the link will decide their entry.
