Jagannath Temple Queue System Coming Soon: SJTA Ramps Up Prep Work in Puri

Puri Temple Shake-Up New Queue System to Change Darshan

Bhubaneswar: Puri is once again in the spotlight as the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) rushes to bring a major change for lakhs of devotees. The work for the new ‘Dhadi’ or Jagannath Temple Queue System at the Jagannath temple has now moved at a fast pace, raising huge interest and mixed reactions among locals and pilgrims.

The new Jagannath Temple Managing Committee cleared this plan a few days back, and since then, the SJTA has been moving quickly to make it ready. The system will first start at the Natamandap. Which sits close to the main sanctum, where devotees offer prayers before entering for darshan.

In a key step, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, along with committee members, checked the wooden ramps made for the queue system. Officials inspected these ramps at a production site in Bhubaneswar. Workers showed how the system will work, and they invited servitors to give suggestions. This move shows that the administration wants both safety and smooth darshan for all devotees.

The ramps will now be shifted to Puri and placed inside the temple before the trial run begins. For now, the Jagannath Temple Queue System will start only on a test basis. Once the trial is smooth and the crowd flow is steady, it will be fully introduced for everyone.

Padhee said they want a simple and stress-free darshan for all visitors. He also said the team saw a live demo today to understand how people will move inside the new line system. Servitors shared their views, and the team may add some changes before the full launch.

The managing committee has also directed the temple authorities to prepare a clear Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). This SOP will guide how people will enter, move, and exit the area under the queue system.

In another major update, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has allowed SJTA to fix air-conditioning at the Natamandap. This will help keep the space cool, especially during long lines and peak crowd days.

With the wooden ramps ready, the approvals given, and the trial run around the corner. The new Jagannath Temple Queue System is likely to create a new experience for pilgrims at the historic Jagannath temple. Devotees now wait to see how this big shift will change their upcoming visit to one of India’s most sacred shrines.
