Big Update: Shiv Khori Yatra Closed Till Further Notice

Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir: The Shiv Khori Yatra has been closed after continuous heavy rain hit the region. The suspension began in late August and has continued into early September 2025. Officials said landslides and slippery tracks forced the shrine board and district administration to stop the yatra for safety.

Safety Comes First
No pilgrim movement will be allowed until the path is cleared. Rescue teams are already on the ground, removing debris and checking the track. “The yatra will open only when it is safe,” an official confirmed, until Shiv Khori Yatra is closed.

Devotees Face Disappointment
Many pilgrims who had planned their visit during this time are upset. Local hotels, shops, and transport operators in Reasi are also reporting fewer visitors. Still, most devotees agree that protecting lives is more important than continuing the yatra in bad weather.

About the Shrine
Shiv Khori is a natural cave shrine in Reasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva as it is one of the most popular pilgrimage spots in Jammu after Vaishno Devi. The cave is famous for its natural Shivling and draws thousands of devotees every year.
